Light and truth in the ecosystem of creation

In May of 2010 I received a letter from my daughter Alma. At that time she was a missionary in the Spain-Bilbao mission. I searched eagerly for that letter written on blue paper, but I only found my answer to it. The revision of their comments gave me a new approach to work on some ideas inspired by the scriptures and the idea of ​​light and truth in the creation ecosystem arose. I thought it would be useful for the readers of teancum (who are increasingly more) the main ideas of the work that emerged from that letter.

For the originality of its approach, I consider it a new contribution. And this is precisely the goal of teancum : to provide new perspectives, or in other words add new ideas and not comment on existing ideas.

Light and truth

Light and truth are two concepts that run parallel in the scriptures. Separately they are part of our everyday vocabulary. That is, light, as radiation that illuminates our environment or even some issue or circumstance of our life. And, the truth, or the conformity between what is manifested and what is.

• The definition of truth is clearly described in the scriptures «truth is knowledge of things as they are, and as they were, and as they are to come;» ( D & C 93:24 ) and this definition of truth can be accepted in the secular world .
• Looking into this relationship between the two words, we can read «enlighten thy mind; and now I tell thee these things that thou mayest know that thou hast been enlightened by the Spirit of truth;»( D & C 6:15 ). We see that Christ is identified with the truth and that it illuminates.
• The truth from without is the understanding within us. «As I pondered over these things which are written, the eyes of my understanding were opened …» ( D & C 138: 11 ).
• But it is the understanding of truth that brings order to our mind. The word understanding is composed of the prefix with (unite) and prehendere (catch). Through the eyes of understanding we organize and unite what we perceive and that is when we understand.

There is a distinction between truth or knowledge and light. If knowledge is derived from truth and truth is light, what is light?

One core and two components

The light suggests a different nature among all these words. Here we begin to distinguish the details of the landscape.
I think it’s appropriate to read in D & C 88:11

«And the light which shineth, which giveth you light, is through him who enlighteneth your eyes, which is the same light that quickeneth your understandings; «

Just as in the IXX century, the atom seemed like one thing, likewise the truth, even though it is in the same nucleus with light, are not the same. In the theology of restoration, words undergo the powerful impact of revelation. This results in the outpouring of new concepts, which in this new «physics» of the last days, speak of an expanded doctrinal universe. But we must carefully take any conclusion as a possibility.

The light of truth

Light is clarity in knowledge, that is why light vivifies our understanding as we read before. In my opinion, the union of those two words in the scriptures form a unit different from the sum of their individual meanings. They adopt a life of their own forming an entity, called in the scriptures light and truth.
Without light, although the truth exists, there is no knowledge. Similarly, without the Holy Spirit we do not know God, because he testifies of the Father. Therefore just as a trinity is needed to know the deity. In the same way, the union of light and truth is required to establish the truth that shines in Christ and enlightens us.

And now let’s ask ourselves a question that for me is the key to all this. And I say that the key to all this is the question. How are intelligence and glory related? What is glory? With which we go down to another level of deeper detail. We remove from the picture of properties of light «the power of God»

Glory and power

In this life we ​​seek power and glory, to dominate the elements, the animals, the earth. We have that germ of seeking power and glory. However, few obey the laws to acquire it.
If we see the order of what we have seen so far, we can better understand the sequence of this scripture  «The glory of God is intelligence, or, in other words, light and truth.» ( D & C 93:36 )
The graphs you can see are the originals of May 2010 that I sent to my daughter Alma. I observed with astonishment that, without my intention, the sequence glory-light-truth-knowledge, from the bottom up, was repeated in the scriptures from left to right. For example, in this script the schema is also repeated.«He that keepeth his commandments receiveth truth and light, until he is glorified in truth and knoweth all things.» (28 ).

The important thing for me of what I saw up to that moment is the following. By considering the words of the scriptures as containers of hidden treasures or occult knowledge, I was invited to treat them as complex and strange entities, not mere words. According to the scheme that emerged, we could think that the glory of God is to say his power, is to enlighten the truth so that it is deposited in our mind and through our obedience carry out immortality and eternal life.

The eternal cycle

And therefore, the condemnation because of disobedience, is to have knowledge but not glory, which is dominion and power.

The cycle that is represented above, Obedece – Receives truth – light – glory. If we look at the graph, based on obedience, you receive truth and light. But as the scripture says, you do not receive the glory immediately. There is an up , that preposition teaches us that the process begins in obedience and ends in glory. Something that Lucifer ignored and hid his followers
. Why does the one who is glorified know all things ?, because as we deduce one thing leads to the other, one contains another, but everything in its proper measure, that is, it is not everything same.

The living universe

In D & C 93:30 it tells us «All truth is independent in that sphere in which God has placed it, to act for itself, as all intelligence also; otherwise there is no existence. «

If we continue with the inertia that gives us our initial focus, that is, consider that all the elements of creation are entities (although strange) we reach new conclusions. Not necessarily true. And the reader will ask himself: what are these ideas for? I answer to keep asking us questions. Because in that state, without the burden of certainty, is where knowledge and faith lie.

From that premise, when reading the previous writing, we understand better than not all the truths have all the domains or spaces. In fact we know that all truths are circumscribed to a space of application. You have to understand them in a set. Thus we as intelligences with a vocation of glory and power, do not share that sphere in our state. We can only reach it by obedience to the laws, I include in this the atonement.

Light and truth in the ecosystem

The impression that the Father governs a great ecosystem of strange but allied entities is growing. He takes his children to an ecosystem alien to us. But he skillfully weaves his network of allies. Knowing the coldness and behavior of each participant, he achieves the great miracle of mercy in the outer voids.

Many in ignorance reproach him for the local existence of evil, but few appreciate the universal empire of mercy.

To understand the role in the scheme of obedience , we read in D & C 93: 31-32   «Behold, here is the agency of man, and here is the condemnation of man; because that which was from the beginning is plainly manifest unto them, and they receive not the light. And every man whose spirit receiveth not the light is under condemnation.»

When coming to earth, every human being receives light in a small portion. This is  the light of Christ  whose source is light and truth, not created or made. That primordial light increased by Christ, which illuminates our understanding. In verse 31 it says «clearly it is manifested to you what existed from the beginning». But if that little bit is thrown away then we are under condemnation. Or in the dispossessed knowledge of light that does not shine.

The independence of Light and Truth

If we read without the classic ties and without pretension to lay doctrine (a great burden that I do not have). The words in the restoration, expand like a roll of paper.
Now, in verse 36 « The glory of God is intelligence, or, in other words, light and truth.»  if you reject the light you have (whatever it is). What happens? Look at figure 3  « Light and truth forsake that evil one.» ( 37 ) why do they throw it away? For as the 30th says the intelligences have agency but the Light and the truth is also free to act in its sphere. And its sphere is the immensity of space ( D & C 88:12 )

Now, what is the path that the disobedient loses? Let’s look at figure 3 from obedience ( 39 ) «And that wicked one cometh and taketh away light and truth, through disobedience, from the children of men, and because of the tradition of their fathers.»  In this way access Glory is impossible, because before you have to go through knowledge or light and truth. They throw away the wicked.

Satan’s claim in Moses 4: 1 easily comes to mind. »  … I will be thy son, and I will redeem all mankind, that one soul shall not be lost, and surely I will do it; wherefore give me thine honor. «
And what is honor? Honor is his glory, that is, his power. Power, honor, glory (in the sense of prestige) come to be the same.

Lucifer wanted a shortcut to glory without obedience. By saying «I will surely do it» he suggests that he does not have free will. He took obedience to his dictates of all actors in creation for granted. And that is saying a lot and very fast.

The manifestation of his power

Being Light and truth, among other entities, «independent to act by themselves.» These can not illuminate a pretended kingdom that starts by breaking the covenants and alliances where the honor of the Father is based. His kingdom is interwoven in previous elements. The power of the Father is based on his prestige, his honor.

If his proposal prospers, this would have happened «light and truth reject that wicked one.»
The most curious thing is that Satan was punished with obtaining what he asked for, that is, a kingdom where there is no agency with the obedience of his subjects. Without light and without glory, but with knowledge. That is to say what he asked, there is his condemnation.
Otherwise, in the proposal of Jesus Christ, there is the possibility of increasing in light and knowledge because «What is of God is light; and he who receives light and perseveres in God receives more light, and that light becomes more and more bright until the perfect day. «( D & C 50: 24)
Truth and light, being independent in action, can carry out their work in the mind of the person who is subject to its laws. These two elements are prior to everything, they can not be governed on a whim.

The flow of ideas, when considering the study from this perspective, may seem disorganized. But clearly, the fission of language in the scriptures projects new ideas to us. Like Christ without breaking the law, he extracted the unexpected from the old things.
